Oklahoma’s 1st Crisis Nursery – Because it Takes a Village!
The OkCity Crisis Nursery is a family-strengthening program where parents can bring their young children for emergency care lasting several hours, overnight or several days. They are the only 24-hour emergency-based child care home in the state of Oklahoma without any fees or income eligibility. It is their mission to reduce the number of child abuse and neglect cases in Oklahoma by making resources available to families, connecting families to quality childcare, keeping children safe by preventing trauma and providing support in times of crisis. There are several situations that lead a family to access their services, such as: a sudden illness or accident; feelings of helplessness; emotional distress, domestic violence; homelessness; drug or alcohol treatment; a medical or mental health situation, and employment or housing situation.
KicKee graciously donated hundreds of items to OkCity Nursery last year, so we were more than happy to do it again when they reached out to us this year. For their precious little ones in the nursery, we donated more than 400 splendidly soft KicKee items, including coveralls, PJs, tops, bottoms, layettes and snuggly plush toys!
