Kitsap Foster Care Association

Advocating for foster children in our community.

Kitsap Foster Care Association (KFCA) is a non-profit organization formed in 1991. They are dedicated to foster parents, kinship caregivers and foster children living in Kitsap County. Their membership is strictly voluntary and is comprised of foster and kinship parents licensed by the State of Washington and certified by private agencies.

One of the many ways that KFCA helps meet the needs of foster children in their community is by maintaining a ‘New Beginnings Clothing Closet’ at the Bremerton Department of Child and Family office to provide for children coming into care on an emergency basis who have little or no clothing resources. In addition to new pajamas, socks and underwear and either new or gently used clothing for up to three days, KFCA provides diapers and formula to help bridge the gap until the caregiver can find the time to purchase needed supplies.

If there is one thing we do well at KicKee it is help keep children clothed, so we donated hundreds of items (more than $12,000 worth) to New Beginnings Closet, including footies, coveralls, hats and headbands, tops, bottoms, swaddles, books, plush and so much more, for the foster children to wear!
